Using Mouthwash

Posted .

Sometimes your breath needs a little freshening up after lunch, or before work or a date. Mouthwash can go a long way to giving you pleasant breath. But it has other uses too.

There are two types of mouthwashes, cosmetic and therapeutic. Cosmetic mouthwashes can temporarily give you fresh breath, and they taste good, but they have no value beyond that. Therapeutic mouthwashes, on the other hand, can serve a number of purposes. Some mouthwashes contain whitening agents for your teeth. Others contain ingredients to fight plaque and tartar, or fluoride to strengthen your teeth. Some mouthwashes require a prescription, such as those used to fight dry mouth, or some fluoride rinses.

Before you select a mouthwash or make any changes to your oral hygiene routine, you should talk to our dentists, Dr. Joseph Rajabi and Dr. Reza Rajabi about what type is best for you. Along with making a recommendation, they can also give you a cleaning and an examination to make sure your oral health is at its best.
